Congratulations Pattie!  The TIE Network is so proud to have one of its Advisory Board Leaders receive such an honor!

Pattie Morton, library media specialist at Chapel Hill Elementary School in Douglas County, has been selected by the Georgia Association of Instructional Technology (GAIT) and the Georgia Library Media Association (GLMA) as the Library Media Specialist of the Year for the Metro District.

The recipient of the Library Media Specialist of the Year Award is someone who has demonstrated individual excellence in the library media field through service to students, teachers, and community at the K-12 levels. The Georgia Library Media Specialist of the Year will be announced at the COMO conference in Athens, and we'll all be pulling for Pattie!

On the Chapel Hill Elementary School website Pattie stated, "Getting children to read is always a challenge! To help promote reading, I created a drama team of fifth grade students who create what I call Cheetah Book Talks.  Every student on the team reads a copy of the same book.  The team then writes a script for a play for the book read. They practice the skit and learn their lines.  Once the play is perfected we videotape the play.  The video of the play is shown on our Friday broadcast of Cheetah News Network (CNN).  The kids in the school learn about the book and the copies just fly off the shelves!"

Pattie,
I had no idea when I met you at the TIE Summer Academy that I was rubbing elbows with a celebrity! I should have asked for an autograph.
Congratulations on this wonderful achievement!

You are so deserving of these accomplishments and honors. I knew you were a hard worker. Hard work and dedication pays off. Who knows what is around the corner for you! Maybe, media specialist of the decade. I agree with Scott. It does sound like a celebrity honor and one that is long overdue.
