GPB Education launched the Technology in Eduation (TIE) Network on January 1, 2007. The TIE Network empowers Georgia educators by connecting them with other educators throughout the region. Membership benefits - The ability to share ideas, offer support, network and collaborate with other educators who integrate digital media in their classrooms
- Regional events conducted by the TIE Network to ensure educators are receiving the support they need to create technology-enhanced instructional resources
- A website that allows educators to collaborate in a virtual environment
- No membership fees
Levels of TIE Network membership - Affiliate Members: Pre-service teachers affiliated with the colleges of education in GA (Must be recommended by college professor or TIE Network member)
- Yearly TIE Network membership requirements for Affiliates:
- Upload a minimum of 1 technology-enhanced project
- Active Members: Current educators who are working in Georgia’s public, private and home schools
- Yearly TIE Network membership requirements for Active Members:
- Conduct a minimum of 1 technology-focused workshop (at school, in the district, or at the regional, state or national levels) - Attend a minimum of 1 virtual or face-to-face TIE Network event (webinars, teleconferences, regional conferences, state conferences, TIE Network events, GPB-facilitated workshops) - Upload a minimum of 1 technology-enhanced teacher-created or student-created project
- Advisory Board Leaders: These positions will be identified and selected by the GPB Education TIE Network manager and will be reevaluated at the end of each school year (June). The TIE Network manager will extend invitations to Advisory Board Leaders.
- Yearly TIE Network membership requirements for Advisory Board Leaders:
- Complete all membership requirements for Regular Members - Actively participate (virtually and face-to-face) in Advisory Board planning and activities
Where we are in the state of Georgia Our 1,120-member network includes public and private K-12 classroom teachers, professors of education, pre-service teachers, media specialists, instructional technology specialists, counselors, graduation coaches, RESA personnel, ETC personnel, etc. With 152 (84%) of the 181 school districts in the state of Georgia currently participating in the TIE Network, our goal is to reach 100% involvement by December 31, 2008.
