The World of Promethean

| Just when I thought technology could not get any better, my school system has now introduced the Promethean Board to select schools and classrooms. The Promethean Board is also called the ActivBoard and has gotten quite a few updates over the years, including its own attached projector. The technology is based on a flip chart concept, that reminds you of building Power Points. I was one of the fortunate teachers to get my ActivBoard, complete with a wireless slate. I can truly say that my classroom has been transformed. I am teaching difficult concepts with an overwhelmingly supportive software program that has practically everything. If I want to teach measurement with a liife-size ruler, then I can. If I want to pull out a giant grid and teach students how to plot points, then I can. I can also borrow completed flip charts from Promethean Planet , which provides a complete library of resources. This is definitely one of the best resources I have come across in my decade of teaching. However, one of the most innovative (and optional) items that exists with the ActivBoard is the Activotes. The devices give students the power to vote instantly on a prepared teacher quiz or one that the teacher makes on the spot. Each child clicks in a response and a graph is created. This is definitely a way to get every child involved. Carlos Sutton Be first to comment this article | Add as favorites (37) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 670 |
